1. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 – Netflix

The movie has been directed by Anees Bazmee and features Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Rajpal Yadav and Tabu in key roles. This horror-comedy is one of the few Bollywood movies that has made money on Box-office this year.

Reet (Kiara) and Ruhan (Kartik) meet by accident, and are sucked into the story of an abandoned mansion and a trapped spirit. What ensues is a light-hearted comedy-horror-drama.

2. Maja Ma – Amazon Prime Video

The movie features Madhuri Dixit Nene as Pallavi Patel, a Gujarati housewife in her forties. While Pallavi is well-known for her cooking and dance skills, a video from her past emerges and threatens every aspect of her life including the engagement of her son Tejas to a wealthy NRI girl. The events that follow, eventually lead to Pallavi bravely coming out of the closet.

3. Sita Ramam – Amazon Prime Video

Hanu Raghavapudi’s old-world romantic love story Sita Ramam is like a warm hug of life that has endearing performances by Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur. And, that’s the reason why despite the post-pandemic slackening viewership, Sita Ramam, turned into a massive hit. Partially inspired by Yash Chopra’s cross-border love story Veer-Zaara, Sita Ramam tells the epic tale of true love surviving the war, cross-border suspicion, and the religious divide.

4. JugJugg Jeeyo – Amazon Prime Video

With the powerful cast of Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Singh, this comedy-drama film is lit the box office on fire. Released in Jun 2022 in theatres, the comedy-drama movie is a light-hearted take on the complexities of marriage.

5. Dasvi – Netflix

A powerful but illiterate politician intends to spend his time in jail earning his high school certificate. His wife, though, has her own ideas. Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Nimrat Kaur, and Yami Gautam, Dasvi is an ideal film to enjoy with your family this Diwali night.


6. Jayeshbhai Jordaar – Amazon Prime Video

Female foeticide or killing of the girl child in the womb on knowing her sex is an illegal practice that still plagues several parts of the country. The comedy-drama film is focused on a man on the run with his pregnant wife and daughter in order to save his girlchild. Not just female foeticide, the movie also attempts to focus on domestic violence, toxic masculinity, sexual harassment, and many more topics.

7. Sharma Ji Namkeen – Amazon Prime Video

Rishi Kapoor’s last movie, Sharma Ji Namkeen is a heartwarming story about a middle-class widower who is forced into an early retirement. How this man uses his love of cooking to redefine his life, and build relationships beyond his son – will bring a smile to your face.
