Rishab Shetty’s Kannada superhit Kantara has pulled off a remarkable achievement. It has risen to the top of Indian films on IMDb with a rating of 9.5 (as of 16th October 2022). Released on September 30, the movie has already topped the box office collections of PS-1 and GodFather, becoming the most successful Kannada movie of the year. Post the success in Kannada, the movie is set to be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages this month.
Kantara has received a 9.5 rating with 22k votes and has beaten KGF Chapter-2 (IMDb rating of 8.4 with 127k votes) and RRR (IMDb rating of 8.0 with 111k votes).
An action-thriller, Kantara is the story of Kambala champion – Shiva, who is at loggerheads with a forest officer Murali. Human vs nature is the theme of the movie, which is set in a villa. Shiva is a rebellious character who works against nature and leads the war between villagers and evil spirits. The inhabitants and the demonic spirits engage in battle over territory.
Set in Southern Kannada, the movie features Rishab Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, and Sapthami Gowda in key roles.
The movie was released alongside PS-1 and witnessed a few days of silence – before capturing everyone’s attention. Within 15 days of the movie’s release, Kantara has grossed INR 58 Crores in Karnataka itself and has received raging reviews.
A lot of celebrities also came forward to praise the film. Anil Kumble, Prashanth Neel, Dhanush and Rana Daggubati, mentioned how they were blown away after watching the film.
