“RRR” (Rise Roar Revolt) is one of the most successful movies of all times in the Indian film industry and despite the fact that it got released in the month of March, people are still talking about it and are praising the direction and acting performances.
The flick is directed by SS Rajamouli and stars some big names of the industry such as Ram Charan, Junior NTR, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran and others. “RRR” was made on the budget of Rs. 550 crores which made it the most expensive movie of the country and though it was made in Telugu, its dubbed versions were released in other languages as well and it was a pan-India success.
The flick is set in the period of 1920s when India was under the British rule. The story revolves around two leading characters played by Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Junior NTR) who were two real-life revolutionaries and how they fought back against the atrocities of the British rule.
The movie is getting loved all over the world but there is a professor of French history at the University of Cambridge who feels that the manner in which the Britishers have been portrayed is silly as nothing of this sort has happened in reality.
The name of the professor is Robert Tombs and his article is published in The Spectator in which he has also slammed the digital platform Netfix for promoting “RRR”. In his opinion, showing the British officers committing atrocities or crime in that era is a sign of ignorance or it is deliberate dishonesty on the part of makers because as per him, the Indians were ruled by the Indians under the British supervision. He has also written that showing English people as villains is very easy in such movies but they (Britishers) should not accept or believe such stories as they are false and don’t even need to feel apologetic for such things as they never happened.
