South Indian actresses who avoid Telugu movies
The thing about South Indian cinema, unlike Bollywood, is that the actresses there spread themselves across multiple industries, with Tamil and Telugu being the two languages most frequented by South Indian heroines while some straddle three languages, including Malayalam, and very few dabble in all four, counting Kannada, too (strangely, this isn’t the case with South Indian actors). However, there are those actresses, particularly lead heroines from the Tamil film industry, who either have refrained from doing Telugu cinema altogether or avoid doing so further after being left disillusioned by their experience. Check out the ones like Amala Paul, Trisha, Jyotika and others who form this exclusive club.
Amala Paul
Amala Paul recently made some explosive statement about the Telugu film industry, where she pointed out how it’s only dominated by film families and their fans, and how heroines are only needed for songs and making love on screen. Hence, she didn’t do more Telugu movies after a few ones.
Trisha
Trisha used to earlier dabble in the intermittent Telugu film amongst more predominantly Tamil work, but hasn’t acted in one since 2016’s Nayaki, which in itself was a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. Is it a case of her being disillusioned, too, with the kind of roles she’s being offered there?
Jyothika
Jyothika had earlier done a handful of Telugu blockbuster films like Tagore and Mass. However, after returning to the screen post marriage, she hasn’t ventured near Telugu cinema.
Priya Bhavani Shankar
Priya Bhavani Shankar has so far only acted in Tamil films since her debut in 2017. She hasn’t made any overtures of not wanting to do Telugu movies, but they aren’t any talks in progress, too.
Indhuja Ravichandran
Indhuja Ravichandran is another actress who’s solely done Tamil films since debuting in the same year as above, 2017. Likewise, she has neither passed any hints of steering clear from Telugu cinema, but nor have any conversations happened on that front.
