1. Called Aishwarya Rai ‘aunty’ in public
The incident took place back in 2009 when Sonam was announced as the face of an international beauty brand L’Oreal. This did not go down well with Aishwarya who was already the brand’s face for many years who seemed to have expressed her dissatisfaction at the same. When Sonam was asked about the same, the actress had said,
“Aishwarya is an aunty from another generation.”
When the media asked for clarification, Sonam stated,
“Ash has worked with my dad, so I have to call her Aunty na?”
2. Ranbir Kapoor is not a Boyfriend material
There were rumours that Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor are in relationship after their debut movie Saawariyaa. Soon Ranbir got engaged with Deepika. When asked about the same in an interview, Sonam said,
“Ranbir is a great friend, but not good boyfriend material. I wonder how Deepika help on to him for so long!”
3. When she insulted all Indian men
In an interview with a a Fashion magazine, Sonam said,
“Indian men don’t understand fashion unless they are gay.”
4. Talking about her physique
Sonam has been trolled by many for her flat chest. Sonam once boldly said,
“My t*ts and a*s are not very nice.”
Sonam had also admitted that she does not have a bikini body.
5. About dating rumours in the industry
In an interview, when Sonam was asked about linkup rumours during the release of movies, she said that the actors and actresses used their PR teams to create such dating rumors. Sonam said about Deepika’s PR team then,
“Deepika has an over-enthusiastic PR team.”
6. About Bollywood actresses having surgeries
Once again on Koffee with Karan, when Sonam was asked about who she thought had a plastic surgery, she said,
“Honestly, lots of people. And they look really scary!”
7. Controversy with columnist Shobhaa De
During the release of Sonam’s file I Hate Luv Storys Shobha De shared her views and not only said that the film should be called, ‘I Hate Dumb Storys’, but also addressed Sonam as “a lassie who lacks oomph.” Not taking the insult lightly, Sonam lashed out at Shoba De and tweeted,
“Guys please don’t take Shobhaa De seriously. She’s a fossil who’s getting no action and going through menopause. So just for her.”
8. Flashed middle finger to the press
Standing up against the censorship board, Sonam held up her middle finger during the promotion of her film, ‘Players’ and said,
“I don’t believe in censorship so whether they like it or not, I really don’t care about it. I just want people to come and see my film. Showing a middle finger is a part of today’s youth.”
9. Said Ranbir is a mama’s boy
In an interview to fashion magazine Vogue India Sonam said,
“Are girls drooling over him (Ranbir)? Really? Ranbir isn’t sexy at all. Ranbir is a mama’s boy, his mother cuts his toenails for him.”
10. Called Sonakshi Sinha Foolish
Sonam couldn’t hold back her tongue and was quick to defend herself when Sonakshi said that she was a much better fashionista than an actress. Sonam said,
“Even I said plenty of foolish things when I was at that age. I give everyone the benefit of a doubt.”
11. Told Parineeti Chopra Not To wear tight clothes
Karan Johar had asked Sonam to give fashion advice to the following celebrities that he named. For Parineeti Chopra, she said,
“Don’t wear those tight clothes.”
