Entrepreneurship needs a boost for India’s economic development and prosperity. With this in mind, Shark Tank India, an Indian adaptation of the American business reality show, has debuted. The show aired in December 2021 and because of its innovative approach it quickly became the talk of the town. The show has inspired millions of people in India. Although the episode ended almost a week ago, the internet is still buzzing about it.
As the show continues to grow in popularity, the judges’ panel on Shark Tank India looks to have become a hot topic of discussion among fans. The show comprises a panel of seven accomplished entrepreneurs who listen to pitches from aspiring entrepreneurs before deciding whether or not to invest in the concept after rounds of debate. Ashneer Grover, Namita Thapar, Anupam Mittal, Vineeta Singh, Ghazal Alagh, Aman Gupta, and Preyush Bansal were the Shark Tank India judges.
While the programme has seen some unusual business initiatives, with the judges taking the lead and investing in many of the emerging firms and start-ups, here are some of the other enterprises in which the judges have invested previously before the show.
1. Namita Thapar
Emcure Pharmaceuticals is led by Namita Thapar. She established Incredible Ventures Ltd, a firm that teaches entrepreneurship to children in places such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. She is also associated with various government initiatives such as NITI Aayog’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Platform, Digital Health Task Force and Champions of Change. Thapar is also a part of the Finolex Cables and Fuqua School of Business. Her net worth is estimated to be Rs. 600 crores.
2. Aman Gupta
Aman Gupta is the co-founder and chief marketing officer of boAt. He has invested $340,000 in WickedGud in the pre-seed round. In 2021, he also invested in the logistics company Shiprocket. He is reported to have a net worth of roughly Rs. 700 crore.
3. Peyush Bansal
Lenskart’s CEO Peyush Bansal has invested in employee experience AI platform InFeedo and lifestyle brand dailyobjects.com before appearing on Shark Tank India. His net worth is estimated to be Rs. 600 crores.
4. Ghazal Alagh
Ghazal Alagh is the CEO and creator of Mamaearth, an Indian cosmetics firm. She is also a partner at The Derma Co. In the pre-seed round, Alagh invested in Uvi Health. Youngest of all sharks, Alagh is estimated to have a net worth of Rs. 148 crore.

5. Anupam Mittal
Anupam Mittal is the founder and CEO of People Group, the parent company of Shaadi.com. Mittal is also one of the country’s most active angel investors, having invested in over 40 companies like ElectricPe, CashBook, and Lyst. He has also made a one-crore investment in OLA. His has a net worth of Rs. 185 crores.
6. Ashneer Grover
Ashneer Grover is co-founder and MD ofBharatPe. IndiaGold, The Whole Truth, OTO Capital, and Front Row are among the Indian enterprises in which he has invested. He is one of the show’s wealthiest sharks, with an estimated net worth of Rs. 700 crores.
