Bollywood and TV celebs who had suicidal thoughts

September 10 marks World Suicide Prevention Day and several celebs have opened their heart out as they addressed their issues. Celebs have time and again proved that they are not only a pretty face but also an inspiration for many. The life of a celebrity will seem to be all about fame, and money, but the reality is far away from it. From Urofi Javed to Mrunal Thakur; here is a list of celebs who had thoughts of committing suicide, but fought ordeals and how!

Jersey actress Mrunal Thakur revealed about jumping off the train when she was young. In an interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Mrunal said in Hindi, “There were a lot of responsibilities as well. At that time, I used to think that if I didn’t do this well, I would be nowhere. I thought I would be married off at 23 and have kids, and that is exactly what I did not want. I wanted to do something different and I would give auditions back then. There were many points where I felt like I was good for nothing. I used to travel by local trains. I used to stand at the door and sometimes, I would feel like jumping off.' Later, she clarified though and mentioned that the interview was taken a little out of context.

Bollywood actress lleana D'Cruz opened up about having suicidal thoughts in the past. The Raid actress has been pretty vocal about everything and she recently shared that it was due to a very sensitive topic that she had these thoughts in her mind. She clarified that the thoughts were not due to her body image. She has time and again spoken about suffering from body dysmorphic disorder but it had nothing to with having suicidal thoughts. To Bollywood Hungama, the actress said, 'I came across an article because many people messaged me that 'we didn't know this about you.' It was I think meant in good intent, but it annoyed me because a lot of stuff was taken out of context. Yes, I've had body issues, from the time I was probably 12, I was very self-conscious. that's one aspect.' She further added, 'The other aspect about the suicidal bit, it is a very very sensitive topic, and there has been a time where I hit a really low point in my life, and it got to a situation where I was thinking about stuff, but it wasn't related to body issues. Those are two separate issues, so I didn't like the fact that they clubbed them together like that 'oh you know because she had body issues.' I said, 'no,' not to say that if somebody else is going through something like that, you should downplay it.' She is not the only one who has spoken about having suicidal thoughts.

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 10 contestant Rubina Dilaik spoke her heart out about going through depression and having suicidal thoughts. She then spoke about it in detail with Bollywood Bubble. She mentioned about not knowing how to handle professional and personal life leading to isolation. She then went on to add, 'You just cannot figure out what is happening. You start thinking 'why am I irritable, why is there no one around me. Why can I not achieve success'. Too many questions and no answers. There I realised that the problem is somewhere within. There is a lot that I cannot understand, but there is also nobody to guide me. We do not have formal education about it, no one talks about depression.' Rubina shared that she looked up online and relied on yoga and meditation to come out of the phase.

On Bigg Boss season 14, Jasmin Bhasin had opened up on having suicidal thoughts. She had narrated that she attempted to end her life when her career could not fly off as expected.

Mithun Chakraborty walked down the memory lane and he remembered his days of struggle. The actor revealed that there were times when he thought of committing suicide. In an interview, Mithun said that he thought that he would not be ablt to achieve his goals. Mithun even went back to Kolkata as there was no other option. He said, 'Sometimes I used to think I won't be able to achieve my goals, I even thought of committing suicide. I couldn't even return to Kolkata due to some reasons.

Bigg Boss OTT fame Urfi Javed aka Urofi recently spoke about having suicidal thoughts. In a long note on Instagram, Urfi Javed revealed that she thought of ending her life when she could not achieve what she deserves. She wrote, 'You know how many times I’ve failed? I can’t even count now! A few times in my life I’ve felt like the only way to get out of this mess is to end my life. My life was seriously f****d up . Failed career, failed relationships, no money made me feel like a loser who doesn’t deserve to live. I still don’t have a lot of money, successful career and I’m still single but I have hope. The only reason I’m alive today (trust me there have been so many incidents in my life which nearly killed me) is because I never stopped. I kept walking and I’m still walking.'

Khatron Ke Khiladi fame Rani Chatterjee took help of the Mumbai Police after she was reportedly harassed by a man named Dhananjay. On social media, she shocked all when she wrote, 'I will either commit suicide since I am suffering from depression because of this for the past several years. I cannot tolerate this anymore, #suicide.'

Somya Seth

Somya Seth also suffered through a dark phase in life after she separated from her husband. She was pregnant then and did not know what to do. To Bombay Times, she revealed, 'In 2017, right before Ayden was born, I was married and pregnant and trying to figure out ways to commit suicide until my parents came to Virginia. They tried to help me and brought me back from the brink. One time when I was standing in front of the mirror, I was unable to recognise my own self. I was completely bruised. I didn't eat for several days even though I was pregnant. I couldn't dare to look at the mirror for a few days and when I finally did, I just wanted to end my life.' She credited her son for saving her life.

Veteran actress Asha Parekh had once opened up on suffering from depression and having suicidal thoughts. The death of her parents had pushed her into a dark zone. To PTI, she said, 'It was a very bad phase for me. I lost my parents. I was totally alone and I had to manage everything all alone. It did put me in depression. I was feeling miserable and had these (suicidal) thoughts. Then I got out of it. It is a struggle, I had to take the aid of the doctors to get out of it.'

She was diagnosed with the dipolar disorder and that led her to feel various emotions rush through her. However, she came out of the dark phase. To Times Now Digital, she said, If I can heal after 5 years of struggle, you can absolutely heal. Anybody can heal. You have to take your demons. You can't look outside. You have to give yourself time and energy. People must go and take medicines. Your brain chemicals fluctuate and can make you feel worthless. Circumstances make you feel like that. It is ok to give up but important to know when you bow down, you have that capacity to get up. You can heal. There is light after darkness.
