The drama serials or daily soaps are the things of time pass nowadays. Time after time new shows start. The content seems pleasing in the beginning but later it turns into a boring stuff where the storyline is forced to stretch. Well, there was a different picture in the 90s. 5. Swabhimaan
The show was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It revolves around the life of Svetlana, who was a mistress of a rich man. After the death of the man, her life took a huge swing and she had to fight for inheritance against the family of the man.
6. Astitva… Ek Prem Kahani
The story focuses on the concept of women’s identity through the character of Dr. Simran, who embodies patience, consistency, and suppression in a subtle way. Dr. Simran was a gynecologist who fell in love and eloped with a man who was 10 years younger than her.
7. Saans
Extramarital affairs are no new thing in society. The show “Saans” highlighted the issue in a sensible way. Neena Gupta and Kanwaljit Singh played the couple. The couple had to call it off as the male lead character was involved in an extramarital affair with another woman.
8. Tara
The series was known as the first ever Indian soap on contemporary urban women and was the first Hindi language drama series that ran for about 5 years. Tara and her 3 other friends were shown as the idol feminists.

16. Koshish – Ek Aashaa
Koshish-Ek Aashaa was one of the top drama serials in the early 2000s. It featured the story of a woman named Kajal who was tricked to marry a mentally-ill man. She knew she was the victim of circumstances but she stood up dignified.
17. A Mouthful of Sky
Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the show was the first ever English Show on Indian Television. A group of friends reunites after 13 years and confronts a macabre secret from their past. They have formed many enemies who seek them to destroy.
