Sushmita Sen impressed on and all in and as Aarya. Now, the actress is all set to feature in a biopic titled Taali. It is based on the life of transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant is famously known as Gauri Sawant.

Sushmita Sen shares first look of Taali
Sushmita Sen took to Instagram to share the first look of the film. She captioned it as, “Taali - बजाऊँगी नहीं, बजवाऊँगी ! #firstlook as #ShreegauriSawant Nothing makes me prouder & more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person & of bringing her story to the world!! Taali – Gauri Sawant’s family
Gauri was born as Ganesh in Pune. When she was seven her mother passed away, and it was her grandmother who raised her. She decided to leave her house at the age of 14-15 as she didn’t want to disappoint her father who is a police officer.

Taali – Gauri Sawant’s Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust
In 2000, Gauri founded the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust. It’s an NGO that promotes safe sex and provides counselling to transgender people suffering from HIV/AIDS.

Taali – Gauri Sawant a petitioner in NALSA case
In 2014, Supreme Court gave a landmark judgement and declared transgender people as the third gender. Gauri was a petitioner in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) case.

Taali – Gauri Sawant’s daughter
Gauri Sawant adopted a daughter named Gayatri in 2008. Gayatri’s mother was a sex worker and died due to AIDS. So, to save Gayatri from sex-trafficking industry, Gauri adopted her. Not just that, Gauri is the first transgender person to file a petition in the Supreme Court of India for the legal adoption rights of transgender people. Gauri and Gayatri had also featured in ad together.

Gauri has met many Bollywood celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Farhan Akhtar and others. She had also come on Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2017.
