Bollywood doesn’t give a damn about the age. Even after heavy heavily criticized it doesn’t care whether a 50-year-old actor romance a 25-year-old or a 40 year-old play a role of mother of 57 year old! Or, a 44 year-old play a role of 20-year old!
Here are some movies where Bollywood give a damn to age-appropriate casting and made us wonder – WHY?
1. Shah Rukh Khan [Rahul, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai]
In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Shah Rukh Khan played the role of Rahul – a college student when he was actually 33 in real life. At that time, Kajol and Rani, were 24 and 20.
2. Ranbir Kapoor [Jagga Bagchi, Jagga Jasoos]
Ranbir Kapoor played the character of a high school graduate in Jagga Jasoos when he was 35 years old! Phew! Why, Bollywood? Why?
3. Aamir Khan [DJ, Rang De Basanti]
At an age of ‘41’, Aamir Khan played a role of college student – DJ – in Rang De Basanti! Hmm…college student!
4. Shah Rukh Khan [Raj, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge]
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge revolved around young love. Shah Rukh Khan, who was 30 at that time, played the main lead of young lover – Raj.
5. Salman Khan [Radhe, Tere Naam]
It’s not just Shah Rukh Khan but also Salman Khan who played the character of a young jolted lover – Radhe in Tere Naam. At that time, when Salman played the role of a young lover he was just 38. And, for the unversed, his co-star, Bhumika Chawla, was only 25.
6. Aamir Khan [Rancho, 3 Idiots]
Aamir Khan was 44 years old when he played the character of Rancho, an engineering student, in 3 Idiots. And, he wasn’t the only one. His co-stars Sharman Joshi was 30 while R. Madhavan was 39.
7. Tiger Shroff [Student of the Year 2]
The movie saw Tiger Shroff playing the role of a school student when he was 29 years old in real life. In fact, not just him, all the “students” in the movie, including Tara Sutaria, Ananya Pandey, and more, were well into their 20s when the movie was shot and released.
8. Siddharth Malhotra & Varun Dhawan [Student of the Year]
The movie Student Of The Year saw Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, and Varun Dhawan debuting in Bollywood. While Varun Dhawan was 25 years, Siddharth Malhotra was in fact 28 years old when the movie came out. Both these actors played the roles of students in the final year of their school, forcing us to think if Bollywood had run out of teen actors.
