Randeep Hooda's "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar" Starts Slow at Box Office

Randeep Hooda's new movie, "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar," which tells the story of Indian independence fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, didn't do as well as expected on its opening day. Even though some people who saw the movie and critics liked it, the film only made a little over 1 crore rupees (about $120,000) on Friday, March 22nd.

The movie is Hooda's first time directing, and he also acted in the lead role. Experts say it was shown on about 2,000 screens in India. The total cost to make and advertise the movie is estimated to be around 20 crore rupees (about $2.4 million).

Other actors in the movie include Ankita Lokhande, Amit Sial, Rajesh Khera, Lokesh Mittal, and Brajesh Jha. Reviews for the movie have been mixed, with some people praising Hooda's work and others being disappointed.

There has also been some discussion about how the movie shows real-life events and famous Indian figures from the independence movement. Whether or not you should see the movie depends on what you like to watch and what you expect from historical biographies.

Hooda talked earlier about visiting a jail cell where Savarkar was once held. He said he even tried locking himself in the cell to understand what Savarkar might have gone through. Hooda said he couldn't stay locked in for even 20 minutes, while Savarkar was imprisoned for 11 years.
