Acknowledging the brilliance and creativity of the filmmaker and the stars, here we come up with a list of Bollywood songs which were shot in one take.
1. Gallan Goodiyaan- Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)
The movie came as a blow of fresh air with a whole new concept for Bollywood. The storyline revolves around few elite families who choose to go on a cruise to spend their holidays. Majority of the film sequence was shot on a cruise. The party song of the movie Gallan Goodiyan was also shot on a cruise and that too in one take. The song features all movie leads singing and dancing during party.
2. Roop Tera Mastana- Aradhana (1969)
Roop Tera Mastana, the romantic melody from the movie Aradhana was the first of its kind in Bollywood when a music sequence was used as a prop when the actors were still shown portraying their roles. Earlier actors had to lip-sync with the music sequence in order to show that they are singing the song as well. The major highlight of this song being that the beautiful chemistry between Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore was shot in one take.
3. Ae Chhori Zara Nach Ke Dikha- Cash (2007)
This musical drama showcasing all actors from the movie performing in front of the camera became more popular than the movie itself. The movie Cash starred Ajay Devgn, Dia Mirza, Sunil Shetty, Isha Deol and Shamita Shetty in the lead roles. The location of the song also is quiet peculiar and appears maze like. The song was shot in one take for the
end credits of the movie cash.
4. Chale Jaise Hawaien- Main Hoon Na (2004)
This musical sequence was choreographed by Farah Khan who also made an entry to the Director’s club through this movie. The song topped the chartbusters because of its energy and vibe of college romance. ‘Chalein Jaise Hawaein’ was shot in one take as the camera was rolling and capturing all boys and girls dancing in the college campus.
5. I Want To Make Love To You- Aitraaz (2004)
The movie Aitraaz is the Bollywood adaptation of the Hollywood movie Disclosure in which Demi Moore portrayed the role played by Priyanka Chopra in the remake version. Priyanka received wide critical acclaim for her bold and negative role in the movie alongside her charming looks. The song I want to make love to you didn’t became as much popular as the movie but became part of this list because of being shot in one take.
6. Raabta- Agent Vinod (2012)
The movie starring Saifeena i.e Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead role revolves around the life of spy agents. The song Raabta was the USP of the movie and a major highlight. Raabta went on to became the most popular romantic song during the release year of the movie. The song was shot in one take and presents the busy and dangerous life of spy agents.
7. Dil Bechara- Dil Bechara (2020)
Dil Bechara was the last movie of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The movie will be the last when we will be captivated by the aura of SSR. The title track Dil Bechara presents Sushant Singh Rajput shaking to the beats of music on stage to impress his love interest in the movie Sanjana Sanghi. SSR was a trained dancer and it would have been easy for him to perform the steps smoothly after rehearsals. The song was also shot in one take because SSR used the entire stage for his dance performance.
8. Sexy Baliye- Secret Superstar (2017)
The storyline of the movie Secret Superstar revolves around a girl uploading her music videos on YouTube which became viral. Aamir Khan was the star factor in the movie and was seen in a new sporting avatar in the movie. In the end of the movie the character of Aamir Khan was seen experimenting with YouTube by dancing on a musical sequence Sexy Baliye sung by Mika. The dance performance of Aamir Khan in the song was also shot in one take.
The King Khan of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan is always praised for playing negative roles in the movie Darr and Baazigar. But while praising SRK for these roles, we forget to mention about Anjaam. Inspite of having big names such as SRK and Madhuri Dixit associated with it, the movie Anjaam is underrated though praised for its cinematic brilliance. Having many musical numbers, the popular and the romantic one, Barson Ke Baad was shot in one take and displayed the sizzling chemistry of Madhuri and SRK.
