The show has set a high benchmark and became a topic of discussion on social media after its episode on domestic violence and mental health was aired.
In one of the recent episodes, Anupama and Anuj share a scene where they talk about the traumatic experiences of Malvika's past.
Fans are lauding the show makers for touching the topic of consent and domestic violence. They also praised the entire cast including Anupamaa (Roopali Ganguly), Anuj (Gaurav Khanna), and Malvika (Aneri Vajani) for showing it with the kind of sensitivity it deserves.
Fans also urged the makers to punish Vanraj for putting Anupamaa through pain and emotional abuse for 25 years. They wrote:
How, how not to cry with these people! From picking up the most neglected area of the society to making it a topic for an ITV show; a big bow to the makers🙌

Types of Domestic Violence:
A) Physical
B) Mental
C) Emotional
Anupama suffered all with Vanraj
We don't take manhandling seriously but him locking her out & other incidents are clear Physical violence. Then the Mental & Emotional abuse too was rampant. #Anupamaa https://t.co/SPXrJKPVwn
#Anupama I m so impressed by the serial, they actually talked about consent and domestic violence, as the show attract masses, a great effort by the team, similarly #yrkkh current track doesn't portray only the female lead to do anything out of love, how this is prtrayd applause

I am glad this show is giving a message on domestic violence#Anupama pic.twitter.com/37iXm8RIb7
Glad the writers are throwing light on domestic violence & abuse but it will become hypocrisy if they don't show V getting punished too.Just because he was protective of his family & loved them (except anu) they SHOULDN'T show him as a good man .😐#Anupamaa @TheRupali #Anupama pic.twitter.com/1FgyPFpbLk

The dialogues, the performance by Aneri, Gaurav and Rupali mam are top notch
Do watch this episode tonight on TV. I will also watch.
The scene is far from perfect, but it for sure is a sincere attempt by an Indian daily soap to at least show what a woman goes through because of unresolved trauma.
