“Baahubali” star Prabhas is very busy nowadays promoting his latest release “Radhe Shyam” in which Pooja Hegde is playing the female lead. Set in the 1970s, it is a big budget movie which is directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. The concept of “Radhe Shyam” is a little unique and it once again proves that Prabhas chooses his films after giving a good thought and he likes to make sure that he does something different from the other actors.
The actor gave 6 years of his career to “Baahubali” so it is quite obvious that he must have lost many other opportunities but there have been instances in which he has rejected some other films due to different reasons and few of them went on to become superhits.
Here are some flicks which were rejected by Prabhas and they not only performed well on the box-office but also helped other actors in getting established in the industry.
1. Okkadu (2003):
The director of this Telugu movie, Gunasekhar first offered the lead role to Prabhas but he found the concept of the film a little risky and rejected it. Later on, Mahesh Babu played that role and the movie was a big hit. It is considered as one of the best flicks of Mahesh Babu and it was remade in various languages including Hindi. The Hindi version was named as “Tevar” in which Arjun Kapoor played the lead role.
2. Dil (2003):
The director of this movie was V.V Vinayak and Prabhas was approached for playing the lead role but he refused to do it as he was busy with some other project at that time. Actor Nithin was then roped in to portray the lead character; the movie was a big commercial success and was remade in different languages.
3. Simhadri (2003):
SS Rajamouli directed Telugu movie was first offered to Prabhas but he declined it citing that he will not be able to do justice in this mass cinema. The role went to Jr. NTR and “Simhadri” proved to be a huge hit on the box-office.
4. Arya (2004):
The flick was initially offered to Prabhas by the makers but he didn’t like the role of one-sided lover so he rejected it. However, Allu Arjun got benefitted by it as he got the chance to play the lead role and the movie was loved by audiences.
5. Brindavanam (2010):
“Brindavanam” was a blockbuster on the box-office but before roping in Jr. NTR, the makers approached Prabhas for the lead role. However, he expressed his inability to work in the flick as he was busy with the shooting of “Mr. Perfect” and “Darling” at that time.
6. Naayak (2013):
The script of “Naayak” was first narrated to Prabhas but he had to turn down the offer as he was occupied with “Mirchi”. In the end, Ram Charan was signed in the movie after Pawan Kalyan also declined the project. The film in which Ram Charan played double role was superhit on the box-office.
7. Kick (2009):
Prabhas was offered this movie too but as he was not able to take a decision, it went to Ravi Teja who did a wonderful job. The flick was remade in different languages including Hindi in which Salman Khan played the lead role and it was also titled as “Kick”.
8. Don Seenu (2010):
Prabhas declined “Don Seenu” because he did not find the concept appealing. The movie then went to Ravi Teja and not just audiences loved it but it also did well at the box-office.
9. Oosaravelli (2011):
This Jr. NTR and Tamannah Bhatia starrer big hit was first offered to Prabhas who rejected it.
10. Jil (2015):
Prabhas was already shooting for “Baahubali” when he was approached for this movie so he suggested the name of actor Gopichand for the lead role. The flick later went on to become a commercial hit.
