One of the most profound filmmakers in Indian cinema is Anurag Kashyap. With his range of scripts and style of direction, the director made a name for himself. He revealed in an interview that he has a fair share of the fight to become a good director in the business. When he came to Mumbai, Anurag worked at the Prithvi Theatre. He also wrote many TV and movie scripts, including ‘Satya’,’ Auto Narayan’,’ Jayate’ and a few episodes of the ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ TV series. Though Anurag Kashyap is renowned for his masterful directing abilities and good reputation in the industry, we have collected some dark secrets about him that he decided to forget about as well.

The guy has, however, been accused by the media of several things. The director himself confesses all these points explained here or are based on the alleged headlines.

1. Anurag Kashyap Used To Be A Drug Addict

Anurag, like any other child, wanted to be a scientist as well. He got addicted to smoking and alcohol later on. He admitted that he was suddenly changed by these things and he took a train to Mumbai to fulfil his dream of becoming part of the film industry.

2. By actress Payal Ghosh, Anurag Is Accused Of Casting Couch

The #MeToo campaign is not going to end anytime soon as actress Payal Ghosh has also recently accused Anurag Kashyap. Payal Ghosh took her social handle lately and opened up about her incidents with MeToo. Although now the whole thing is hazy, this is such a wild accusation. In addition, in the media, many big names from the industry have also come forward.

3. Anurag was accused of manipulating the court’s 1993 Mumbai Bl*st judgement.

Another wild allegation against the director who made a film about such a sensational subject. As it illustrates the plotting and preparing of 93 Mumbai Expl*sion, the film got everyone’s attention. Later, after their verdict was reached by the courts, several individuals blamed the filmmaker for manipulating the decision of the court.

4. Always Have Overconfident about his decisions and overlooking colleagues

In terms of his filmmaking style, Anurag Kashyap is genuinely a gem. He is still unable to function sometimes, however, and if he tries to do anything in a certain way, he ignores everyone. The casting of Karan Johar in Bombay Velvet as a villain was such an example. It was revealed that he had approached Naseeruddin Shah to play the villain.

Anurag subsequently replaced Naseeruddin Shah with Karan Johar, who was also strongly criticised by the co-writer and lead actor.

5. Making Their Artists Awkward On Sets

Anurag, for the sake of filmmaking, goes to every length. Many occasions, he has proven this. Actors who collaborated with him were also commended for this, but it also backfired often. While he was praised by Vicky Kaushal for helping him prepare for the role, Nawaz appreciated him for making him swim in cold water. Actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Jatin Sarna, with their visionary concepts and shooting norms, talked about making them unhappy on sets.

6. Steal The Camera To Shoot Movie

If you say it’s a typical Jugaadu Mentality from India that somehow manages to do things like this or steal. In an interview, he admitted to wanting to film his movie with those heavy cameras. In order to do that, in his film ‘Last Train To Mahakali,’ he gave the studio AD a meaty role and set the condition that he would let him use the fancy cameras at night. For the record, the entire film was shot at night.

7. Anurag was supposed to Direct Tere Naam but replaced

One of the best movies in Salman Khan’s filmography is Tere Naam. Little do you know that there was Anurag Kashyap on board to direct the movie. He was asking Salman Khan to grow his chest hair for Radhe’s character. He was replaced by Satish Kaushik because of artistic differences.

8. Anurag commented on the career of Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan.

It is a known fact that Anurag’s brother Abhinav Kashyap directed the film Dabangg and, owing to artistic differences, left the camp. A long FB post explaining the events of how he used to get threats over the phone was made by Abhinav. Salman Khan had, however, said that by giving him a chance to direct Dabangg, he had made Abhinav’s career. Anurag Kashyap later commented that without taking support from anyone, Abhinav made a name for himself while Salman helped to uplift the career of Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan.
