India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant stole the spotlight after he scored a match-winning century against the England cricket team in the third and final ODI at Old Trafford, Manchester. The young southpaw took the attack to the cleaners from the word go.

He went on to score his maiden ODI century and the timing of it couldn’t have been better. His century helped India beat England by 5 wickets in the series decider. India won the match and the series by 2-1. Pant was named the man of the match for his batting performance.

Soon after the young wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant steered India to a sensational ODI series win in England with a match-winning ton in the deciding game, the wicketkeeper-batsman himself created a storm on Twitter when he uploaded a dope picture of himself.

He was clad in a white t-short and trousers, with matching sneakers and a super cool chain around his neck. The caption read a line from the popular OTT show ‘Mirzapur’.

“Aur hum ek naya niyam add kar rahe hain, Mirzapur ki gaddi pe baithne wala kabhi bhi niyam badal sakta hai”, the caption read, which roughly translates to “I am adding a new rule. The one sitting on the throne of Mirzapur can change the rules anytime.”

This line was made popular by Mirzapur star Divyenndu, who played the famous character of ‘Munna Tripathi’, also known as ‘Munna Bhaiya’ in one of the popular web series. As Pant’s post spread like wildfire on the internet, Divyenndu was one of the users to reply.

“Aap yogya hain,” he replied, meaning ‘You are worthy’. Pant replied to Divyenndu not too long after saying, “Nahi Munna Bhaiya, ye gaddi aap ki hai.” (No, this throne belongs to you) referring to the plot of the show.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama was his debut film, co-starring Kartik Aaryan (the film with way too much casual anyway). It did not succeed, but his appearance in Mirzapur provided him with a slew of new verticals. His portrayal as “Munna Bhaiya” was received well by the fans.

“It was the decider of the series. I like to be in pressure situations. We keep on talking about situations where you can make a difference and thankfully, today I was able to do it. Just I tried to assess the situation and make the most of it. Initially, I took my time.

“I knew what was happening on the wicket. When I and Hardik or Surya and I were batting, the only thing we were talking about is to keep the good intent and forge a good partnership. Playing overseas, when you play a series against a top team like England is very satisfying,” Pant said on the BBC Test Match Special.
