Everyone is drenched in colours of patriotism as India marks the 75th year of its Independence Day. Celebrities across industries are celebrating the day by sharing messages on social media. But in the past, there have been stars who have been accused of insulting the tricolour. In 2015, Amitabh Bachchan fell into a legal trouble after he wrapped the national flag around him as a scarf. A case was filed not just against him but even Abhishek Bachchan in a Ghaziabad court. The complainant stated that they were covering their bodies with the national flag in a manner insulting to the nation.
Mallika Sherawat
Mallika Sherawat landed in a controversy thanks to the poster of her film Dirty Politics. The poster had her covering her body in a tricolour. This angered many who slammed the actress on social media.
Mandira Bedi
Mandira Bedi called for big controversy when she decided to wear a flag themed saree. Allegedly, India's flag appeared below the waist and it was considered to be insulting. Later, on TV she apologised for the same. She said, 'I had kept this sari specially to wear on the day of the final but if I have offended anybody's sentiments, I offer my deep apology. It was inadvertent and not intentional. I am proud of being an Indian and do not have any intention to show disrespect to the national flag.'

A picture of Tennis player Sania Mirza had gone viral on social media that showed her with her bare feet on the table. Right next to it was the national flag. She was heavily criticised for it.
Sachin Tendulkar
Ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar too was allegedly accused of disrespecting the national flag after he was papped cutting a tricolour birthday cake a few years ago.
