Lata Mangeshkar is a popular and one of the most recognized singers in India. The Indian playback singer and music director made a name for herself in the film industry as she has recorded songs in over a thousand Bollywood films.

Moreover, she sang songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages, predominantly in Marathi, Hindi and Bengali. The Government of India honoured the legendary singer with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989.

In 2001, in recognition of her contributions to India, she was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour. In fact, she is also the second vocalist, after M. S. Subbulakshmi, to receive this accolade. It should be noted that France conferred on her its highest civilian award, the Officer of the Legion of Honour in the year 2007.

Lata Mangeshkar is also the recipient of three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and many more awards. In 1974, she added yet another feather in her illustrious career as she became the first Indian to perform at the Royal Albert Hall, London. She is popularly known as Nightingale of India.

Adnan Sami Gives Epic Reply To A Girl Who Tries To Insult Lata Mangeshkar

‘Lata Mangeshwar’ started trending on Twitter, with more than 6,000 tweets and the majority of the fans came to her defence as they highlighted her achievements. Some users also shared links of Mangeshkar’s most popular songs, citing that it is totally unacceptable to insult her “golden voice”.

Singer Adnan Sami sprung into action and advised the Twitter user to remain silent than letting the world know of her stupidity. “Bandar Kya Jaane Adrak Ka Swaad (What does the monkey know of the good taste of ginger). …It’s better to stay silent and appear stupid than to open your mouth & remove all doubt!!”

Apart from Adnan Sami, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri also defended the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. He tweeted, “One of the reasons I believe in Saraswati and divine is because of Lata Mangeshkar. One of the reasons I believe in the devil is because of her haters.”
