In the Hindi music industry, remixing previous hits is fairly popular. Every Bollywood movie that has been released in recent years has had at least one remixed song that was a hit in the previous years. While singers and composers took it as an opportunity to represent the old song again in front of a new audience, many people didn’t like it at all.
We have seen how many topics are dominating Bollywood in recent years, and among them is the recreation of old movies and songs. I must say that some new versions are actually good. However, many are truly disastrous.
Following this, singer Neha Kakkar, an epitome of recreation, recreated the well-known Falguni Pathak song Maine Payal Hai Chhankai, and its preview was recently shared on social media. However, internet users did not like it.
Soon after the preview was out, Kakkar began receiving trolls who said she had wrecked their childhood memories. Fans were unimpressed with the song’s reworked version, which now features Priyank Sharma and Dhanashree Verma.
The song has been released, even after getting so many negative reviews. Many people are furious over this song, with many people even tagging Falguni Pathak. Now, it seems that Falguni Pathak also has the same thoughts as fans. She recently indirectly dissed Neha Kakkar by reposting critics’ comments.
Soon people recognized this. It went on to become one of the most talked about subjects in the Bollywood industry.
Falguni Pathak indirectly expressed her displeasure over Neha Kakkar’s version of her song
On September 19, O Sajna made its YouTube premiere. It is sung by Neha Kakkar and has Jaani’s extra lyrics along with the original song’s melody and hook line. In addition to Neha, Priyank Sharma and Dhanashree Verma appear in the song video. It is a remake of Falguni Pathak’s famous Maine Payal Hai Chhankai from the 1990s.
While the song appears to have gained some fans—having received 18 million YouTube views in only four days—many others are not pleased with the version. Neha has come under fire from a wide section of netizens for ‘ruining’ the original.
Fans remarked that “no one can beat the old version” in the majority of comments on the YouTube video. Instagram users who were dissatisfied with the reproduction even published videos there while tagging Falguni and Neha.
Unexpectedly, Falguni, the singer of the original song, reposted several of these posts on her own social media, sparking rumors that she is also dissatisfied with the song’s new version.
On Instagram Stories, Falguni reshared many of these comments and jokes, but she didn’t offer any commentary. She shared posts where users had left comments such as:
“Stop torturing us with your voice and with the remakes.
Thank you s***ing once again on one of my fave classics.
It cringes me watching O Sajna by Neha Kakkar.”
On Twitter, a lot of Falguni admirers posted the singer’s Instagram Stories
As the majority of those postings were compliments of her, several admirers speculated that she could be spreading them. Others, though, were certain that she also disapproved of the revised version.
The actual version of Maine Payal Hai Chhankai was released in 1999 on the same album as Falguni. Back then, the song was a major smash, and it also instantly made models Vivan Bhatena and Nikhila Palat household names.
What do you think about this recreated version of an old hit?
