Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani – the iconic movie that touched our hearts and soul. With a relatable plot and brilliant songs, this movie turned out to be one of those masterpieces that you can watch again and again. This is one of the go-to movies when we don’t have anything to watch or when we feel low.
While we heard so many talking about how they loved the character of Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) or Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur), but, one character that we felt needed to be celebrated more was Taran (Kunaal Roy Kapur).
Rather than Bunny or Avi, we want to have a friend or a partner like Taran.
Like many of us, Taran wasn’t perfect. He had his own flaws. Like he messed up things sometimes or he wasn’t a great dancer. But, when it came to being a friend or a life partner, he was almost perfect.
Aditi (Kalki Koechlin), could never confess her feelings for her best friend – Avi. While she loved him, she never told him because she knew he was a flirt. But, when Taran came into her life, she realized the real meaning of love. She realized the depth of true love. In her own words, she said “Taran se pehle main theek hi thi. Lekin usse milke realize hua ki main khush bhi ho sakti hoon!” Who doesn’t want a person who can make their sad soul happy?
In a world, where most men are scared of strong women, Taran never had a cinch desire to control Aditi. Neither he was scared of Aditi being strong-headed nor he was jealous of her girlfriend/male best friends.
During the movie, while focusing on him being clumsy, many missed how he cared about every tiny thing related to the love of his life. How he jumped in the pool to find the engagement ring in a split second shows how much his relationship with Aditi meant to him.
Taran was one genuine person, who had everyone’s best interest at heart. How he stopped Aditi from reacting to Avi’s extravagant spending at the casino shows how he was concerned about her friendship with Avi. And, moreover, he didn’t want Aditi to insult him for his pending bill of ₹2 lakhs for poker and alcohol.
It’s just a reminder of how he was not only a great human but an amazing friend too. But, he stole our hearts when he not only apologized to Aditi for their little fight but also asked her friends to come with them as he didn’t want anyone to feel left out. What a warm human being!
And, how could we forget about their sangeet party? Though he wasn’t a good dancer, he made sure that he performs for Aditi. He overcome his nervousness about his performance and made sure he dance his heart out. He didn’t care about what people had to say. Because he cared about just one person and that was Aditi.
While in the world of Bunnys & Avis, we want Taran – the man, who is a true friend, perfect life partner, and most importantly, a great human being. In the last scene, the smiles on the face of Aditi and Taran spoke a lot about their love and their equal marriage. What a pure relationship!
So, forget Bunny, we all need a guy like Taran in our lives!
