Amazon Prime Video’s Panchayat is one of the finest series of all time. Whether it was Panchayat Season 1 or Season 2, the audience has immensely loved the series and its characters. Be it Abhishek (Jeetendra Kumar), Pradhanji (Raghubir Yadav), Manju Devi (Neena Gupta), the deputy Pradhan (Faisal Malik), or the office assistant Vikas (Chandan Roy) – we loved all of them.
The beauty of the series lies in the right balance of different ingredients that it strives to project on-screen. With just the right amount of humor, the right amount of social message, and the right amount of emotions, Panchayat’s pudding is simply perfect.
Like season 1, season 2 also managed to make us laugh. But, one thing that differentiates it from season 1, is the climax that broke many hearts. Its hard-hitting climax made the internet cry so hard that many netizens came forward to share their feelings.
It was passing interesting untill this scene came in between, i cried by heart what a realistic embedment of stories which villagers come across. रोना आ गया यार …! #PanchayatSeason2 #panchayat2

In the midst of laughs, Prahlad gets a piece of heart-breaking news that shatters his heart and soul as well as that of the audience. In the earlier episode, Prahlad had dropped his son, Rahul, at the station to go back to his posting to serve at the border.
But, hardly he or the audience could have imagined that Rahul would return back home wrapped in a flag.
The subsequent hard-hitting scenes focus on the grief of what parents go through when they lose their children. In the scene when Prahlad performs his son’s last rites, you just couldn’t fight back your tears. Without saying a single word, Panchayat makes you feel the immense pain of this father, who has just lost his kid.
The way netizens reacted to the scenes is a fantastic reminder of how brilliant the makers of this show are! What makes the climax even more hard-hitting is how the death of a martyr is viewed from different perspectives, including the one of the father losing his only child. The climax hits you hard when you realize the tragedy of a father, who is proud and sad at the same time.
While the whole village attends Rahul’s final rituals, he is left alone in the empty house full of loneliness and sorrow. In a society, where men are told not to cry, we are so proud of makers for letting Prahlad express his grief. The way Prahlad breaks down in front of his pals saying that he is now completely alone in the world, impacts you so hard.
We loved the way the makers handled such a difficult and complex set of scenes with so much sensitivity and empathy. We are tired of Bollywood preaching to men that toxic masculinity is heroism. With series like Panchayat, OTTs are breaking through the regressive content and giving the audience some really progressive content.
In case you haven’t watched the series yet, please watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
