Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan starrer Adipurush is one of the most awaited upcoming movies. However, after the teaser was launched, the film faced a lot of controversies as people are not happy with how the characters are shown in the movie. But, before Adipurush, many other South movies have got into controversy.

Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey starrer Arjun Reddy was a blockbuster at the box office. But, the film faced a lot of flak as many people felt that the movie promoted toxic masculinity.
RRR
RRR is one of the biggest hits of 2022, and now, everyone is waiting for it to get an Oscar award. But, when Jr NTR’s first look was revealed many people were upset that they showed Komaram Bheem’s character wearing a Muslim skull cap. However, when the film released it was cleared why the character wore the cap.
Jai Bhim
Suriya starrer Jai Bhim is called one of the best films made in Tamil cinema in recent times. But, still it faced controversies. From a character in the movie slapping another character for speaking Hindi to hurting the sentiments of the Vanniyars; Jai Bhim was embroiled in a lot of controversies.
Thalaivii
Thalaivii was a multi-lingual film and was released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu. The Kangana Ranaut starrer was a biopic on J Jayalalithaa, and the film faced controversy before the release as multiplexes were not ready to release it due to the short window between theatrical and OTT release.
Karnan
Dhanush starrer Karnan was reportedly loosely based on the Kodiyankulam caste riots of 1995. But, the controversy was that DMK members were upset that in the film the year shown was 1997. Later, it was said that the makers rectified the mistake.
Pushpa
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa: The Rise had also faced a controversy due to a scene in which Pushpa touches the chest of Srivalli. Later, the scene was edited out from the movie.
Mersal
Thalapathy Vijay starrer Mersal faced controversy due to some dialogues in the film. There was an outrage due to a dialogue which allegedly criticised Goods and Services Tax.
Vishwaroopam
Kamal Haasan starrer Vishwaroopam faced many controversies. One of the controversies was that Muslim groups in Tamil Nadu wanted to ban the film as they felt the movie will hurt the sentiments of Muslim people.
Krishna and His Leela
Krishna and His Leela got a direct-to-digital release on Netflix. Siddu Jonnalagadda starrer was called Hinduphobic and an insult to the religion. #BoycottNetflix had started trending after the film premiered on the OTT platform.
