Salman Khan is one of the most popular and influential actors in the Indian film industry, with a massive fan following. And, over the years, his movies have broken many records at the box office, but no one can deny that his acting skills left the critics and his fans disappointed. Given his limited acting skills, we are happy that Salman rejected some beautiful films like Chak De, DDLJ, and many others.

Here are five such movies rejected by Salman Khan and we have no regrets:

Baazigar

The 1993 hit film Baazigar, directed by Abbas-Mustan, became a blockbuster with Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of a negative character. However, what is not widely known is that Salman Khan was initially offered the role before SRK. According to reports, Salman and his father Salim Khan found the character too negative and suggested to Abbas-Mustan that they add an emotional mother angle to soften the antagonist.

While sharing the details, Salman Khan said on The Kapil Sharma Show, “I liked Baazigar, but I found the character too negative. So I told Abbas-Mustan to add a mother-like character. Both the brothers laughed at us, saying that this is very cliche. This was Dad’s suggestion that he is doing this for his mother. Anyway, we left the film and Shah Rukh Khan signed the film… After the entire film was completed, they called me and said that mother idea that you had, we are adding to the film. Thank you very much.”

However, the flawless portrayal of Vicky Malhotra by SRK has left no room for regretting Salman’s rejection.

This sports drama film directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Yash Raj Films was a critical and commercial success. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role of a former hockey player who coaches the Indian women’s hockey team. Salman Khan was reportedly offered the role, but he turned it down, and given how SRK performed this role, we are glad Salman rejected the movie. Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in the film was outstanding, and he brought a level of gravitas and depth to the character that Salman Khan might not have been able to match.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)

This romantic drama film directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films is one of the most iconic Bollywood films of all time. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles and is known for its memorable dialogues and songs. Salman Khan was reportedly offered the role of Raj Malhotra, but for some reason, he turned it down, and the role eventually went to Shah Rukh Khan. And, how SRK won our hearts with his portrayal of Raj Malhotra is history!

If reports are to be believed, Salman Khan rejected the movie Kal Ho Na Ho as he didn’t want to play the second fiddle to Shah Rukh Khan, who was playing the lead character. As a result, Saif Ali Khan was chosen to play the character, and he did an excellent job, which was widely appreciated by the audience and critics alike. It’s worth noting that despite Salman Khan’s refusal to be a part of the film, movie lovers have no regrets, and the movie turned out to be a massive success at the box office!

Ghajini (2001)

Reportedly, A.R. Murugadoss had first offered the role of Sanjay Singhania in Ghajini to Salman Khan. But since he reportedly rejected the role, it went to Aamir Khan. It was one of the highest grosser of that year and Aamir Khan’s flawless portrayal of Sanjay Singhania has left no room for regretting Salman Khan’s rejection.
