 Jio Cinema’s recent revamp has shaken up the Indian OTT industry, transforming it into a formidable competitor. Once considered a passive platform, Jio Cinema has now emerged as a game-changer, challenging leading OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Offering free streaming of the IPL and securing rights to sought-after content from HBO, Showtime, Paramount Plus, and Binge, Jio Cinema has taken bold steps to redefine the streaming landscape. Additionally, they have announced approximately 100 Indian Originals, set to premiere in the upcoming months.

1. Bloody Daddy

Jio Studio and Shahid Kapoor have tantalized their fans with a preview of their upcoming direct-to-digital film, Bloody Daddy. The gory teaser gives viewers a glimpse of the action-packed and blood-soaked film, which is set to debut on June 9th, 2023. The one-minute, fifteen-second clip features Shahid wielding a variety of weapons, including knives, guns, clubs, and even a raw mutton leg, all while dressed in a black suit and an open-collared shirt. The teaser promises plenty of “drugs, cops, family, and lots and lots of blood.”

2. Mumbaikar

In addition to Bloody Daddy, Jio Studio’s new slate of originals includes Santosh Shivan’s Mumbaikar, which marks Vijay Sethupathy’s Bollywood debut and also features Vikrant Massey in a significant role. The film is an adaptation of the Telugu movie Maanagaram, and was completed in 2021 but did not see a theatrical release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie’s first look was presented by Karan Johar and SS Rajamauli in 2022. The movie is releasing on Jio Cinema on June 2, 2023.

3. Asur – Season 2

Get ready for the highly anticipated return of “Asur” Season 2 on JioCinema from June 1. Directed by Oni Sen, the crime thriller series brings back Barun Sobti, Arshad Warsi, Amey Wagh, and Riddhi Dogra reprising their roles from the first season. The show revolves around a serial killer amidst a backdrop of myths and religion. With a cliffhanger ending in Season 1, the upcoming season promises more intense drama as the formidable duo of Warsi and Sobti’s characters confront the rising threat of Asur.

The series is set to release on Jio Cinema in June 2023.

5. Big Boss OTT – Season 2

Bigg Boss has always been a favorite among audiences, consistently dominating the TRPs and capturing immense popularity. Last year, the OTT Platform introduced a mini version of Bigg Boss, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, which saw Divya Agarwal emerge as the winner. Fans eagerly anticipate Bigg Boss OTT Season 2, initially slated for August-September, but the latest update reveals its rescheduled launch in early next year. Currently in the pre-production stage, the highly anticipated season is set to stream in June 2023.
