 The Indian film industry has been infamous for some of its actors indulging in cringe-worthy and torturous overacting. Recently, a Twitter thread went viral that asked netizens to share the name of the actor that comes to their mind when they hear the term “overacting.”  The same thread was posted on multiple platforms and garnered thousands of comments. And, we must say the responses were even more entertaining than some of the recent movies. Here are some of the most popular responses that flooded the Twitter thread and made it viral in no time:

Varun Dhawan’s name appeared repeatedly in the Twitter thread on overacting actors, with many common people citing him as an example of someone who often goes overboard with his expressions.Many criticized him for his exaggerated cringe-worthy acting. It’s not the first time Varun Dhawan ha been called out for his overacting. Be it Judwaa No.1 or Coolie No.1, Varun Dhawan has left audience disappointed with his overacting 

2. Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan’s name was a common presence on the list of overacting actors, with many netizens citing her performance in films like Love Aaj Kal and Coolie No. 1 as examples of her overacting. Her infamous dialogue – “Ab tum mujhe tang karne lage ho” – was often quoted as a reminder of her tendency to go over the top.

3. Ananya Panday

Ananya Panday, like many other actors, has faced criticism for her acting skills. Her past theatrical release Liger turned out to be a disaster at box-office and many came forward to blame her acting for the movie’s failure.

4. Tiger Shroff

Though some people were divided about whether it is a lack of acting or overacting that makes Tiger Shroff a bad actor. From Heropanti 2 to A Flying Jatt to Baaghi series, Tiger Shroff has been recently criticized for his bad acting on multiple occasions.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has faced criticism for her overacting in several films, including Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Yaadein and so many more. Her performances in these movies were seen as excessive and theatrical by many viewers, who felt that she failed to deliver a nuanced and believable portrayal of her characters.

It’s not surprising at all that Salman Khan is on this list given that he often portrays over-the-top characters!

Many came forward to share how Alia Bhatt overacted in some of her recent movies – Brahmastra and Gully Boy. Netizens remembered how her endless Shivaaa dialogues in Brahmastra were the epitome of bad acting. 

11. Shah Rukh Khan

The other name on the list was SRK’s. Many pointed out how Shah Rukh Khan overacted in all of Karan Johar’s movies including Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and so many more. A reddit user also mentioned, “Srk has felt like the same character to me in most of his movies other than chak de and a couple others. I never decided if that’s simply because I’ve seen him so many times, or because he doesn’t try to change his way of expressions/talking from character to character (which still would work as enough people watch movies to see him rather than the story). I don’t doubt his skills because there are some great performances but it can just be hard to see him as a new, unique character each time like I’m able to with some other actors”,
