Aamir Khan and Salman Khan starrer “Andaz Apna Apna” may have achieved the status of a cult classic in the modern times but surprisingly it was a big flop on the box-office. The 1994-released movie also starred Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Shakti Kapoor and Paresh Rawal in important roles and it was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

While the trade analysts have failed in understanding the reason behind the failure of the film after its release, the director of the film, Rajkumar Santoshi gave his opinion on this issue recently.

In an interview, Rajkumar Santoshi said that “Andaz Apna Apna” was a very different story at that time as it had more humour, adventure and comedy than romance because of which it took people more time in understanding the film. Santoshi said that 29 years back when the movie got released, the distributors were also new in the business.

Talking about the promotions, he stated that no activity related to the publicity of “Andaz Apna Apna” was carried out, no interaction with the media took place and neither Aamir nor Salman was in the city to promote the movie. Santoshi added that lack of promotional activities made distributers very angry.

When Rajkumar Santoshi is asked about the possibility of a remake, he states that there is no chance of making the remake as the film looks fresh even today. He adds that whoever will try to make the remake of this movie will get drowned because it is not possible to make this type of flick again.

“Andaz Apna Apna” is certainly a classic comedy film, what do you say?
