Bollywood industry is now beaming with a hell lot of controversies and there exist few circumstances, in this dirty business, the careers of many actors and actresses get destroyed because of one thing they said wrong. The most recent, being Kartik Aryan removed from Dostana 2 because of his rift with Karan Johar.
Here we have noted few such controversies from the past that this situation reminded us of:
1. Vivek Oberoi
Dating back to the year 2003, Vivek Oberoi charged Salman Khan of pestering him, the reason being Vivek dating his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai. He held a media interview and said Salman Khan was harassing him, and also called him about 41 times, which definitely was not taken well with Salman. Post this incident, we’ve rarely see Vivek in shows and films, and we can obviously conclude that his career ended pretty soon. Many years after this, Vivek himself confessed that the act done by him was complete immaturity.
2. Arijit Singh
It can be traced back to the Star Guild Awards in the year 2014 where Arjit probably accidentally fell asleep in his seat at the award function, the reason being his hectic schedule. He was woken up by everybody and was called on stage, where Salman teased him for sleeping, to which Arjit responded saying, Aaj logoon ne sula diya. He straight away apologised but the consequences were severe. Because according to the reports, the Meet Brothers removed a song recorded with Arijit for Kick and alongwith it Pritam dropped his vocals for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Additionally, his song was removed from the movie Sultan. It was then Arjit decided to apologise publicly with a Facebook post.
3. Tanushree Dutta
The actress charged Nana Patekar and Ganesh Acharya for behaving inappropriately with her during shooting for a song on the sets of Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss in the year 2008. In an interview, Tanushree said,
“Ganesh Acharya is mainly responsible for spoiling my career, my livelihood and my life.”
In the year 2018, she also filed a complaint against the following people, Nana Patekar, Ganesh Acharya, Samee Siddiqui who is the producer of the movie and Rakesh Sarang, director of the movie for trying to harass her on the set of the film.
4. Sushant Singh Rajput
After the death of the actor, his fans and his and companion actors highlighted how Salman Khan and Karan Johar tried to destroy the actor’s career. According to Sushant’s gym partner, named Sunil Shukla,
“Karan Johar and Salman Khan together conspired to not let him work in films. Karan Johar signed Sushant and Jacqueline for a film Drive but in the middle of this film, Jacqueline got an offer to work in Race 3. Karan did not let Sushant sign any more films and allowed Jacqueline to work in Salman’s film which delayed its shooting,”
He also charged that Shah Rukh Khan insulted Shushant at the IIFA in Macau.
5. Anurag Kashyap
Anurag Kashyap probably also lost most of his movies in the Bollywood industry due to a rift with Salman at the time of the shooting of Tere Naam. On Neha Dhupia’s talk show, Anurag said,
“There were lots of changes happening in the project and the script even got changed several times. Later new producers arrived and I got to know that now Salman Khan is the new hero of the film. Producers asked me to direct this film. The hero of the film belongs from Mathura, Agra and I myself belong to UP so I could not find Salman fitting to that role. Despite that, I tried to make the role fit for Salman and asked him to grow some hair on her chest. I told whole suggestion to Salman and asked the actor to grow some hair on the chest. When I said this to him, he was just staring at me and didn’t say a single word to me. Next day I got a call from the producer and he reached to meet me at. The producer throws a glass bottle at me and said – ‘Saale Tu Salman Ko Baal Ugane Ko Bolega.”
6. Abhinav Kashyap
Abhinav Kashyap, who is the brother of Anuraag Kashyap pointed out Salman Khan and his family for trying to subvert his career. The director of Dabangg posted a Facebook caption and wrote that the cause of him leaving the sets of Dabangg 2 was due to Arbaaz, ‘in collusion with’ Sohail was trying to take sabotage his career. Abhinav wrote,
“Arbaaz Khan sabotaged my second project with Shree Ashtavinayak Films that I was signed up with by personally calling their head Mr. Raj Mehta and threatening him with dire consequences if they made a film with me. I had to return the signing money to Shree Ashtavinayak films and moved to Viacom Pictures. They did the same thing.”
7. Kartik Aaryan
Back in 2019 Kartik Aaryan posted a picture on his Instagram handle and announced that he will be seen in Karan Johar’s movie Dostana 2 opposite Janhvi Kapoor. He was excited to be a part of the sequel of the 2008 popular movie. The movie was shot for 2 weeks but then the news made headlines that Dharma Productions fired Kartik Aaryan due to the actor’s ‘unprofessional behaviour’’ The sources said
“Dharma has decided to replace Kartik Aaryan in Dostana 2. Kartik expressed creative differences over the script of Dostana 2 after one and a half years. However, he completed nearly 20 days of shoot in 2019 after reading the same script and agreeing to it.”
The news also claimed that Dharma Productions or any other film business of Karan Johar has vowed to not work with Kartik again. Soon after Karan unfollowed Kartik on Instagram putting a stamp on the news.
