8 Actresses Who Rejected Many Blockbuster Films!

 

Kareena Kapoor Khan was offered this role but the actress had rejected it. Years later in an interview, she revealed that she was supposed to play Deepika's role but she 'changed her mind'. This was not the first time that an actress had rejected a film that went on to become a blockbuster. Let's take a look at few other instances.

Apart from Ram-Leela, Kareena had also rejected Karan Johar's Kal Ho Na Ho. As per reports, the actress had demanded a huge sum to play the role of Naina. The role ultimately went to Preity Zinta but it is reported that Naina's role was written keeping Kareena Kapoor in mind. The actress also turned down 2013 release Queen. Kareena told TOI in an interview, "I feel honoured and glad to give work to other people. I hope they (actresses) become stars as I have rejected big films."

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut chose to act in Tanu Weds Manu over The Dirty Picture. She revealed in an interview that people call her 'stupid for losing out on the film'. Vidya Balan had played the lead in the super successful film and had also won a National Award for her performance.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the first choice to play the lead in Raja Hindustani back in 1996. However, the actress turned down the offer as she wanted to concentrate on her education. Aish was later crowned Miss World and entered the world of films.

Kajol was offered to play the role of Zaara in the 2004 epic love story, Veer-Zaara. The Yash Raj Films production went on to become a big success and the female lead was played by Preity Zinta. SRK played Veer in the film. Kajol was also offered the role of Pia in Three Idiots, another superhit film.

The role of Kalpana Shetty in Ghajini was initially offered to Priyanka Chopra. However, Priyanka turned down the offer. The role ultimately went to Asin and the film was a roaring success in 2008.

Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express broke several box office records and proved to be a full 'paisa vasool' film. Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan played the lead in the film. Deepika's role was offered to Katrina Kaif initially but the actress had turned it down. Katrina also turned down the lead role of Naina in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

The film that redefined romance, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai needs no introduction about its success in the industry. Kajol and SRK played the lead roles while Rani Mukherjee had a small, but important role in the film. Rani's role was initially offered to Twinkle Khanna who had turned it down.

Deepika Padukone was offered to play the female lead in Dhoom 3. She however, didn't take up the role and it ultimately went to Katrina Kaif. Deepika had also rejected leading roles in Salman Khan's blockbuster films Sultan and Kick. Deepika also rejected Hollywood biggie Fast And Furious 7 since she was busy shooting for Ram-Leela.
