Irrfan Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rishi Kapoor, and Sridevi are among the talented stars that have left Bollywood in recent years. Their untimely death stunned the entire country.

Nothing can be more heartbreaking for producers and directors than having to recast characters after an actor’s untimely death. Life, on the other hand, must go on, and everyone must finally move forward, both personally and professionally. As a result, the filmmakers must also knock on the doors of other actors in order to finish their upcoming films.

Let’s have a look at a list of Bollywood actors who have stepped in to replace other celebs in films after their untimely deaths.

‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ makers roped in Paresh Rawal post Rishi Kapoor’s demise

Paresh Rawal stepped into Rishi Kapoor’s footsteps to finish his film Sharmaji Namkeen after the actor’s untimely death. The filmmakers enlisted Rawal to finish the remaining scenes of the film. Sharmaji Namkeen, directed by Hitesh Bhatia, is a lighthearted coming-of-age drama that will air on Amazon Prime Video on March 31.

Rishi Kapoor died on April 30, 2020, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He shot the majority of Sharmaji Namkeen alongside Juhi Chawla at the start of 2020. Only the scenes shot after the demise of the Amar Akbar Anthony star would feature Paresh Rawal.

Madhuri Dixit replaced Sridevi in ‘Kalank’

Madhuri Dixit Nene had to step in for Sridevi in Abhishek Varman’s Kalank after the actress’s tragic death. Producer Karan Johar had originally envisioned Sridevi in the lead role. Janhvi Kapoor had even expressed gratitude to Madhuri for taking on the part that had previously been held by her late mother. Sridevi’s first film with Dharma Productions since Gumrah would have been this (1993).

For the uninitiated, the actress was discovered dead in her hotel room in Dubai on February 24, 2018, after an accidental drowning.

Raveena Tandon replaced Divya Bharti in ‘Mohra’

Divya Bharti, 19, died in unknown circumstances after falling from the balcony of her Mumbai flat at the height of her career. She was shooting for several films at the time, including Mohra, which starred Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. Raveena Tandon was brought in to replace her after she had already shot a few sequences for the film, which was a great hit in 1994.

Amitabh Bachchan will replace Rishi Kapoor in ‘The Intern’ remake

Rishi Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have been cast in the Hindi remake of The Intern. However, his untimely death prompted the filmmakers to postpone the picture. Rishi Kapoor was eventually replaced by Amitabh Bachchan. The Intern, which is set to hit theatres later this year or in early 2023, is Amitabh and Deepika’s first collaboration since the triumph of 2015’s Piku.
