Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of Bollywood has always been the greatest romantic hero. From DDLJ to K2H2, starring in several romantic blockbusters, the entertainer came up with different versions of Raj and Rahul who were perceived to be at their romantic best.
If you’ve grown up watching these films, you’re probably in love with the characters and plots. However, if you look again closely you will realize that neither Raj nor Rahul was an ideal ‘Hero’ or partner.
For instance, Devdas couldn’t get out of his ego to pursue his lady love, Amar in Dil Se was quite obsessive if you rethink, he needed a little teaching about respecting boundaries and consent. In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Rahul was not fair towards Anjali, and neither was Aman towards Naina in Kal Ho Na Ho.

When these movies came out most of us were pretty young and our perception of love and romance was blurry. It’s not just about SRK movies, with change in time and perspective we have come to realize that such plots and characters of these Bollywood flicks were problematic rather than romantic which doesn’t make sense in real-time.
But fans are usually prone to nostalgia. Some of the romantic notions promoted by such Bollywood movies are regressive if not downright repulsive.
It is not limited to old romantic Bollywood movies, among the recent ones, we think Kabir Singh is the most toxic.
