1. When Sonam Kapoor Called Aishwarya Rai ‘Aunty’ To Demean Her
In 2009, Sonam was chosen as the ambassador of a beauty brand, which was also endorsed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Aishwarya was upfront to share her discomfort with the idea. Post which, Sonam called Aishwarya, “aunty” and started the controversy. As per the reports, she said – ‘Aishwarya is an aunty from another generation.’ Later, while clarifying her statement in an interview with Hindustan Times, she said, “Aish has worked with my dad so I have to call her aunty!” Fans did not like her mean and controversial statement. Because of this, she faced wrath over the internet. Later, Sonam clarified saying that she was ‘misquoted’.

With Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, Sonam Kapoor made her debut against Ranbir Kapoor. During an interview, Sonam was asked about Ranbir Kapoor as a boyfriend. While responding to the question, she said, “Ranbir is not boyfriend material. Are girls liking him, really? Ranbir is not sexy at all. He is Mama’s Boy, whose toenails are also cut by the mother.”

When Sonam Kapoor’s film ‘I Hate Love Stories’ was released, writer Shobhaa De said that the film should be called ‘I Hate Dumb Stories’. She also mentioned that Sonam doesn’t have ‘the’ thing. In response, Sonam tweeted against Shobha and wrote, “Please do not take Shobha De seriously. She is an old lady and she is going through menopause.
