It is heartbreaking when Bollywood refuses to reward talent. There are so many talented actresses, who have nailed every role they did, but Bollywood refuses to give them meaty roles. These talented actresses have been working hard for years. They have been seen on TV, in web series, and in films. But, still, there is a high chance that many may don’t remember their names. Even after struggling so much, these talented actresses are still not giving up on their dreams. They are working hard to leave their mark on this industry in some way or another. We hope Bollywood will value their talent and give them the meatier roles that they deserve.

Here are 8 very talented underrated actresses who have aced every role they played despite short screen time

1. Sheeba Chaddha

Be it Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam or Fan or Dum Laga Ke Haisha or Badhai Ho, talented Sheeba Chaddha has this rare ability to bring any character to life. Some of her most memorable films are- Delhi 6, Luck By Chance, Raees, Badhaai Ho, Zero, and Gully Boy.

In two decades of her career, there hasn’t been a single role that she hasn’t nailed. From a nosy rural woman in Dum Laga Ke Haishaa to a modern mother in Badhaai Ho, she has delivered an awesome performance. Her brilliance lies in the fact that she could leave a lasting impact even with a single frame. But the tragedy is, filmmakers rarely offer her meaty roles.

2. Simone Singh

Once upon a time, Simone Singh ruled our TV screen as Heena. With the show, she became a popular face among Indian households.  She has been part of a few movies – Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Gham and later in Kal Ho Naa Ho. Her recent notable films include Laal Kaptaan and Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal, where she played Sara’s mother. We wish we get to see her in bigger and meatier roles.

3. Ayesha Raza

Ayesha Raza is quite popular for her role in Zoya Akhtar’s multi-starrer Dil Dhadakne Do and YRF’s Bang Baaja Baarat. She has proved her potential with each and every role she played. Her most recent memorable movies include – Madaari, Befikre, Toilet A Love Story, Sonu Ke Teetu Ki Sweety, Veere Di Wedding, Made in Heaven, and SOTY 2. We hope Bollywood would stop typecasting her and offer her some meaty hard-hitting roles.

4. Deepika Amin

Deepika Amin has been part of many great TV shows – Farmaan,  Tashan-e-Ishq,  9 Malabar Hill, Junoon, Siyasat, and many more. Recently,  Deepika has starred in many  Bollywood films and she has always proved her talent. Her work includes Raanjhana, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, Fan, Sonu Ke Teetu Ki Sweety, Gone Kesh, and Ghoomketu. But, can Bollywood please give her a role that could utilize her potential already?

5. Supriya Pathak

Supriya Pathak’s powerful act in Ram-Leela is just as memorable as her endearing performance in Love per Square Foot. Not to forget Khichdi’s Hansa. But, sadly, Bollywood has relegated such a talented actor to the sidelines in so many movies!

6. Seema Pahwa

With movies like Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Seema Pahwa brought a refreshing energy to the character of “desi mom”. She has done many films in Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Wazir, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, and many more. But, sadly, Bollywood typecasted her in the role of a mother. When the industry starts stereotyping talented actors, there is little they can do.

7. Alka Kaushal

With popular TV shows like Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan and Qubool Hai, Alka gained massive popularity. And, while all these years, she has mostly played negative roles, she has made sure that she never disappoints her audience. But, recently, when she switched to films, she left many surprised. With successful Bollywood films including Queen, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Veere Di Wedding, Badhaai Ho, she has left many impressed.

8. Meghna Malik

No one can question Meghna’s acting caliber! Remember how brilliant she was as Ammaji of the successful TV show Na Aana Is Des Laado. She has done cameos in many movies including SRK’s Chalte Chalte and Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par. She was also seen as a principal in Irrfan Khan’s Angrezi Medium. Though she may have little screen time in these movies, she manages to shine and do justice to every role. We hope Bollywood recognizes her potential and offers her meatier roles.
