Adipurush lands into major controversy
It was recently that the teaser of Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush made it to the internet. Soon after its release, the film landed into a major controversy. Netizens slammed the makers for allegedly mocking Hindu gods. Several were disappointed with how Saif Ali Khan is portrayed as Raavan and much more. Now, there are demands being made that the film should be banned. Amidst the big controversy, here's looking at who said what about Adipurush.
Ramanand Sagar's son Prem
A lot discussions are being made as Adipurush is being compared to Ramayan. Over this, Ramanand Sagar's son Prem defended Om Raut. In an interview with Times of India, he said that one can stop anyone from making anything and that 'Dharma changes with time'.
Mukesh Khanna
Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna created a video to slam the makers of Adipurush. He especially slammed Saif Ali Khan and stated that if the film is based on Ramayan than he cannot change the characterisation of Raavan. He even compared Saif Ali Khan's character in the film to that of e Mohammad Khilji.
Sunil Lahiri
In an interview with DNA, Sunil Lahiri who played Laxman in Ramayan criticised the VFX of the film. He said that nobody wants to take an effort these days to make anything extraordinary. He also said that 'modern technology has overpowered narration.
Dipika Chikhlia
Dipika Chikhlia played the role of Sita in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan.
Manoj Muntasir
Dialogue writer Manoj Muntasir tried to justify the depictions in the film. In an interview with News18, he stated that there is no deviation from the actual Ramayan and people should not misunderstand anything. He said, 'I don't want anyone to misunderstand that we have changed it. It is to translate from books to celluloid. So this is not a film for us. This is a representation of our bhakti, shraddha (devotion and faith) and what we stand for.'
Om Raut
The director of the film Om Raut also spoke about the controversies revolving around Adipurush. To Aaj Tak, he said the depiction of Saif Ali Khan is such because they wanted to show what Raavan would look like in today's time.
