We adore our Bollywood stars in India. And rightly so. They battle lions on their own, leap from one skyscraper to another with ease, pull off high-octane chases and even on a bad day they can beat the baddies black and blue.
They praise them for their death-defying stunts but fail to thank those without whom the light of day would not have been seen by these stunts. Such stunt doubles have lived for years in obscurity, while the actors are attracting all the publicity. It is ungrateful work and we decided it was time we gave them their due.

Seems that when it came to doing the action scenes the nimble-footed Kamli developed cold feet.
3. Hrithik Roshan (Mohenjo Daro)
Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama will see Hrithik Roshan taking on Mohenjo Daro’s baddies… Well, not exactly him, but he was swimming with these two guys.
4. Abhishek Bachchan (Raavan)
M. The uncanny resemblance of S. Balram to Abhishek Bachchan made it appear to be A. B. Junior took the fatal fall from the top of a mountain into the water. You had us this time, Mani sir.
5. Aamir Khan in (Dhoom 3)
I’m sure Aamir would have gone for a stunt double for the wild action even if the stunts were 100 per cent safe to perform. Others call perfection an illness!
6. Akshay Kumar (Chandni Chowk to China)
Bollywood’s Khiladi doesn’t like to play by the rules, and prefers to do most of his own stunts… Except on certain occasions.
7. Priyanka Chopra (Mary Kom)
They employed a boxer so that the blows from Priyanka appeared as similar as possible to those from the real Mary Kom. Bam Bam Bam Boom.
8. Hrithik Roshan (Bang Bang!)
Duggu had been so kicked about remaking Knight and Day that he himself wanted to do all the stunts. He also performed a lot of the stunts on his own after hurting himself while filming. Nevertheless, he needed this guy for the others.
9. Shah Rukh Khan (Fan)
In this movie, SRK is playing its own fan. For Fan, director Maneesh Sharma has tried to capture Croatia’s beauty, a location that was never previously filmed in Bollywood. In the movie, Shah Rukh has a double role, and also a double body.
10. Dimple Kapadia
Reshma, yesterday’s favourite female stunt double from Bollywood, has been putting her career on the line for three decades, pulling off risky stunts for a few leading Bollywood ladies.
11. Hema Malini
Among the many movies in which Reshma has played a double body, Sholay was the most iconic. “Chal Dhanno, aaj teri Basanti ke izzat ka hai sawaal.”
12. Rani Mukerji (Mardaani)
Rani chased a gangster down on a bike and pounded the hell out of him. Good job, Double Stunt.
13. Shah Rukh Khan (Don)
In Don’s final scene, just before SRK’s double takes down Boman Irani, he wants to share a cigarette with King Khan.

This is the man who is beaten up by goons from South India.

It is, again, Reshma. As a stuntwoman, she was paying twice the money, as opposed to playing a junior artist. Will make sense!
16. Ranveer Singh (Bajirao Mastani)
Bajirao presents you in full regalia. Some say this is the double of Ranveer Singh, others deny the claim that he is simply another actor. I suppose we’ll have to wait before you release Bajirao Mastani.
