Bollywood has been influenced by Hollywood movies time and again. Remakes and ‘inspirations’ are common occurrences in the industry. While some Bollywood remakes have been well-received by the audience, quite a few have been so poorly made that they leave the viewer disappointed.

Here are some of the worst Bollywood remakes of Hollywood films that have been painful to watch.
1. Laal Singh Chaddha (Forrest Gump)
Based on the classic Hollywood film “Forrest Gump”, Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was expected to be a classic as well. Directed by Advait Chandan, the movie failed to live up to the hype. Even when the trailer of the movie had come out, many people called out Aamir for ruining the original with uninspired acting.
2. Action Replayy (Back To The Future)
Vipul Shah’s film closely resembles Robert Zemeckis’ famous movie. However, the Hindi adaptation failed to capture the humor and emotional depth of the original ‘Back To The Future’. This resulted in the movie being rejected by the audience and made it one of the worst Bollywood remakes of a Hollywood film.
3. Chocolate (The Usual Suspects)
Chocolate was a remake of a massively impressive film – The Usual Suspects. While the Hollywood flick went on to win multiple Academy Awards, the Bollywood remake was a disaster, to say the least. The story was overly complicated, the cinematography attempted to be artistic but was instead dull, and the movie ended up being extremely boring.

4. Dil Bole Hadippa (She’s The Man)
Although the film was based on a Shakespeare play, there are clear similarities between the two movies. Both feature characters who disguise themselves as men to participate in a sport. Despite Rani Mukerji’s impressive performance, the film received poor reviews and was not well-received by audiences. The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukerji as the lead characters in a story about a young woman who poses as a man to join an all-male cricket team. Supporting roles were played by Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil, Rakhi Sawant, and Sherlyn Chopra.
5. Players (The Italian Job)
The Hindi film was a direct remake of “The Italian Job” and generated significant excitement prior to its release. However, the film underperformed, due to its slow pace and inability to match the excitement of the original. The main cast included Vinod Khanna, Bobby Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonam Kapoor, Sikandar Kher, and Omi Vaidya, with Aftab Shivdasani appearing in a cameo role.
6. Ek Ajnabee (Man on Fire)
The Hindi film was a direct adaptation of the Hollywood movie “Man on Fire” with Amitabh Bachchan taking on the role of Denzel Washington’s character. Despite very few people being familiar with the original, this Hindi film was a box-office failure. It also starred Arjun Rampal and Perizaad Zorabian along with Amitabh Bachchan. This was Amitabh Bachchan’s final release of 2005, following a streak of five successful films.
7. Prince (The Bourne Identity)
The film “Prince” was a complete failure. Unlike the Jason Bourne series, which may not be as polished or captivating as the original “The Bourne Identity,” but are still tolerable to watch, “Prince” cannot be described in the same way. The film was a mess, with a disjointed storyline and confusing plot that left audiences scratching their heads throughout its entire duration.

8. God Tussi Great Ho (Bruce Almighty)
The Hindi film “God Tussi Great Ho” was a direct remake of “Bruce Almighty” which starred Jim Carrey. Despite having an all-star cast, including Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, the film failed to impress and was a disappointment. The movie did not connect with audiences and received criticism for its overly complicated plot. This highlights that a film’s success is not solely dependent on its cast. The film also featured Priyanka Chopra and Sohail Khan, but still underperformed at the box office.

9. Bichhoo (Leon The Professional)
The film was based on the 1994 cult classic, but failed to perform well at the box office upon its release. Both Deol and Rani Mukerji received negative criticism for their performances, with reviewers stating that the film was far from serious and instead evoked laughter in tense moments. This detracted from the genre as thrillers are meant to be taken seriously. “Leon: The Professional” features Jean Reno as the titular character, a professional assassin for the mafia, and Gary Oldman as the corrupt and unhinged DEA agent Norman Stansfield.
