From time to time, Bollywood has been blamed for not recognizing real talent. Bollywood is so obsessed with women characters as arm candies or love interests, that it shamelessly wastes the talent of many female actors.

It is heartbreaking how so many less talented actresses are selected over their talented counterparts, just because of their connections or PR machinery! Here’s a list of some great talented actresses, whom we would like to see more onscreen than the so-called less A-list actresses:

1. Sheeba Chaddha

Talented Sheeba Chaddha has this rare ability to bring any character to life. Her brilliance lies in the fact that she could leave a lasting impact even with a single frame. But the tragedy is, filmmakers rarely offer her meaty roles.

2. Supriya Pathak

Supriya Pathak’s powerful act in Ram-Leela is just as memorable as her endearing performance in Love per Square Foot. Not to forget Khichdi’s Hansa. But, sadly, Bollywood has relegated such a talented actor to the sidelines in so many movies!

3. Shefali Shah

Thanks to OTT, talented Shefali Shah received her due credit. But, many Bollywood movies have wasted her talent. From casting her in the role of actor’s mother or side roles, Bollywood movies have denied her the screen time she deserves.

4. Seema Pahwa

With movies like Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Seema Pahwa brought a refreshing energy to the character of “desi mom”. But, sadly, Bollywood didn’t take a lot of time to typecast her in the role of a mother. When the industry starts stereotyping talented actors, there is little they can do to set apart their performance.

5. Tillotama Shome

Even though her filmography includes some of the finest movies, mainstream films failed to write a good role for Shome. From her debut film, Monsoon Wedding to the critically acclaimed Qissa, or the recently released, Sir, Shome has shown that she is a real powerhouse of talent.

6. Rasika Duggal

Rasika Duggal has been around for a long time. Even though she has showcased her talent in a number of shows – Mirzapur, Out of Love, and Delhi Crime, the mainstream cinema has hardly given her the chance she deserves.

7. Amruta Subhash

Amruta Subhash has worked in the industry, television, and theatre in Marathi and Hindi. She featured opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Sacred Games 2, and she received appreciation for her performance in Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai on Netflix. She was also seen in Gully Boy and Dhamaka but deserves much more screentime.

Wish Bollywood would start giving more attention to the talent and give these supremely talented actresses the roles that they deserve. Do let us know the talented actresses that you feel deserve better screentime in the comments section below!
