There have been so many times when, more than the leading characters, we were inspired or touched by the supportive characters and actors. There have been several movies where the supportive actors did such a fabulous job that they stole the show from the lead characters. Here is a list of such actors who simply overshadowed the lead characters in Bollywood movies.

1. Priyanka Chopra in Bajirao Mastani

Nailing the character of Kashibai in Bajirao Mastani, Priyanka Chopra’s screen presence was way stronger than Ranveer Singh, who played Bajirao. Even though Deepika Padukone was the leading lady in the film, she was clearly sidelined by Priyanka’s brilliant performance.

2. Anushka Sharma in Jab Tak Hai Jaan

No one could deny that even though Katrina Kaif was the leading lady in the romantic movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan, it was Anushka Sharma’s who stole the limelight from Katrina. Sorry Katrina!

3. Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Badlapur

Even though Varun Dhawan played the leading man in the movie, it was the brilliance of Nawazuddin Siddiqui that stole the limelight.

4. Fawad Khan In Kapoor & Sons

While many of us may not agree that Fawad Khan was a supporting character in Kapoor & Sons, but that’s how all the Bollywood awards categorized Fawad Khan’s character.  If that’s the case, then Fawad Khan did a fantastic job and stole the show from the main leads, whoever they were.

5. Parineeti Chopra in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl

Parineeti started her career playing a supporting character in the film, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. Although Anushka was playing the lead character in the movie, Parineeti made her presence felt every time she came on screen. Her bubbly, cute presence left a lasting impression on the audience.

6. Paresh Rawal in Hera Pheri

Paresh Rawal’s flawless acting made this movie extraordinary. Though Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar did a great job too, it was Paresh’s charm and comic timing that was unbeatable.

7. Rajpal Yadav in Chup Chupke

Be it his Paani act in Bhool Bhulaiyaa or Jyotshi character in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, he never left his fans disappointed. Rajpal Yadav may have played the supporting characters, but he managed to outshine the main leads in many movies. And, one such movie, where he managed to do so is Chup Chupke.

8. Tabu In Bhool Bhulaiya 2, Haider, Andhadhun

Tabu is so talented that she can overshadow any actor in the film industry. So, even though Bollywood may categorize her characters as supporting characters, she always overshone the main leads. Be it Bhool Bhualiya 2 or Haider or Andhadhun, Tabu always left her audience impressed.

9. Saif in Omkara

Yes, Saif’s character in Omkara, Langra Tyagi, was so perilous that it overshadowed the other characters in the film, which even included the protagonist. In case you have watched the movie, you already know why he made it to this list.

10. Vicky In Sanju

Yes, it was Ranbir, who stole the show. It was Vicky Kaushal, who many felt overperformed Ranbir Kapoor. Vicky Kaushal played the role of Kamli, Sanjay Dutt’s best friend, who stood by him during the darkest phase of his life.

11. Sunny Deol in Damini

“Tarik pe tarik” – what a memorable dialogue. Sunny Deol’s courtroom scene is one of the finest scenes that Bollywood has created. Even though Sunny Deol had a limited role, he had the audience enthralled. He took away all attention from Rishi Kapoor, who was the lead actor in the film.

12. Rajkumar Rao In Bareily Ki Barfi

Though we are a huge fan of Ayushman’s acting, but it seemed Rajkumar Rao’s brilliance stole the show in Bareilly Ki Barfi. In case you haven’t watched the movie, please give it a shot and we promise this underrated movie won’t disappoint you!
