They say it right when they say you shouldn't touch some iconic movies - don't make a remake, don't even make a sequel.
When Gadar was released, it faced a lot of backlash from the industry. Critics called it "Gutter: Ek Prem Katha". Not just that, nobody was willing to take the distribution rights. However, despite bad reviews and criticism, it struck a chord with the audience. It wasn't an outdated movie revolving around an Indo-Pak love story, as most people initially thought it to be. It won people's hearts and remained etched in it.
After 22 long years, it was re-released in theatres and once again left everyone emotional.
