Tumbbad: From Flop to Box Office Hit in its Re-release
The folk horror movie Tumbbad didn't do well when it first came out, but it's making a big comeback in its re-release! Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad has been doing amazingly well since it was re-released on September 13th. It has consistently earned more than 1 crore rupees every day for 11 days straight, which is much better than its original run where it only crossed the 1 crore mark twice.
So far, Tumbbad has made about 25.75 crores (21.75 crores after taxes) in its re-release, and it's expected to surpass the Tamil film Ghilli (around 26 crores) soon. This will make Tumbbad the most successful re-released movie in India in the 21st century.

Tumbbad and Ghilli are the only two movies to earn more than 20 crores in their re-releases. Other successful re-releases include Titanic, Sholay 3D, and Laila Majnu.
Overall, Tumbbad has now earned around 41.50 crores worldwide (including its original run) and is on track to reach 50 crores, which is a huge achievement considering its initial flop.
