Money Trouble: Filmmakers Fight Over 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'

Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani, the producers of the movie "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," have accused the film's director, Ali Abbas Zafar, of stealing money. They say he took funds meant to help pay for filming in Abu Dhabi and used them for himself. They filed a complaint against Zafar on September 3rd, and the police in Mumbai are expected to question him soon.

Serious Accusations

The Bhagnanis claim that Zafar took 9.5 crore rupees (about 1.15 million US dollars) illegally. They accuse him of doing this through a fake company in Abu Dhabi. They've also accused him of other serious crimes like threatening them and spreading lies about them.

Zafar's Side of the Story

Earlier today, there were reports that Ali Abbas Zafar is also accusing the Bhagnanis of not paying him his full fee for directing the movie. He says they owe him 7.3 crore rupees (about 880,000 US dollars). He's filed a complaint with the Directors' Association, asking them to help him get the money he's owed. Another group, the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE), has also gotten involved and asked Vashu Bhagnani to explain why Zafar hasn't been paid.

The Producers Respond

Pooja Entertainment, the production company owned by the Bhagnanis, denies Zafar's claims. They say he's not owed the full amount because there are other costs that need to be deducted from his fee. FWICE has asked Zafar to provide proof that he's owed the money he claims.

About the Movie

"Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" is a remake of an older movie with the same name. The original movie was directed by David Dhawan and starred Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. The new version starred Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Unfortunately, the new movie didn't do well when it was released in April this year. Audiences and critics didn't like it. Ali Abbas Zafar hasn't had a successful film since he left Yash Raj Films, a big production company, to work on his own.

In a nutshell:

  • The producers of "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" are accusing the director of stealing money.
  • The director is also accusing the producers of not paying him his full fee.
  • Both sides are making serious accusations against each other.
  • The movie itself was not successful when it was released.
