Oscar-winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell's upcoming movie based on the classic novel "Wuthering Heights" has generated even more excitement with the news that Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie and BAFTA-nominated actor Jacob Elordi will play the lead roles of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff.
The film's production company, MRC, has partnered with LuckyChap Entertainment to produce the movie. Fennell will write, direct, and produce the film. This project marks the third collaboration between LuckyChap and Fennell, who previously worked together on "Promising Young Woman" and "Saltburn". Fennell also had a role in LuckyChap's highly successful "Barbie" movie, which Robbie produced and starred in.
"Wuthering Heights" is currently in the pre-production stage, with filming scheduled to begin in the UK in 2025. Fennell announced her plans to adapt "Wuthering Heights" in July, sharing a message on social media with a quote from the novel.
With Robbie, Elordi, and LuckyChap on board, many of the key players from "Saltburn" are reunited for this new project.
Robbie's next movie is "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey," directed by Kogonada, which is set to release in May 2025. LuckyChap's most recent film, "My Old Ass," is currently in theaters, and their first theater production, the off-Broadway play "The Big Gay Jamboree," recently premiered. Elordi will next be seen in "The Narrow Road to the Deep North," directed by Justin Kurzel, and Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein."
Deadline was the first to report the news about Robbie, Elordi, and LuckyChap's involvement in the project.
