 'Tumbbad' Re-release is a Box Office Hit

The horror-fantasy movie 'Tumbbad', starring Sohum Shah, is doing incredibly well in its second run at the theaters. It was first released in 2018 but didn't attract a lot of attention then. However, after being released on Prime Video, it became very popular and gained a lot of appreciation from viewers.



Box Office Success

Because of its new-found popularity, the filmmakers decided to re-release 'Tumbbad' in theaters on September 13th. It has been a huge success, even surpassing the total earnings it made during its original release in 2018, which was Rs 13.57 crore.

On its 10th day of re-release (second Sunday), the movie earned Rs 2.59 crore, bringing its total earnings in India to Rs 21.57 crore. It's on track to become the highest-grossing re-released Hindi film in India.

About the Movie

'Tumbbad' tells the story of a Marathi family living in a village called Tumbbad. They build a shrine for a god named Hastar, who is not supposed to be worshipped, hoping to get his cursed treasure. But this only brings them trouble.

Sohum Shah's Experience

Sohum Shah, the lead actor and producer of the film, recently talked about how exhausting the process of making and promoting 'Tumbbad' was. He even shared a story about breaking down in tears during a meeting with the music composers, Ajay-Atul. He was so tired that he swore he would never produce a film again.

But, with some encouragement and support, he eventually got back on his feet and continued producing films.
