Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji always made sure that she always did films that had meaty roles for her. Therefore, she went on to say ‘no’ to every other film she was offered.

1. Aa Gale Lag Jaa – 1994
This romantic thriller of 1994 directed by Hamid Ali Khan was initially offered to Rani Mukerji. She was approached to play the role of female lead, which later went to Urmila Matondkar. The film opened to lukewarm response at the BO.
2. Dil Se – 1998
The Mani Ratnam classic film could have had Rani Mukerji playing the coy fiancee to Shah Rukh Khan, which was later played by Preity Zinta. Due to the lack of weightage of her role, Rani turned the film down.
3. Bhool Bhulaiya – 2007
Priyadarshan wanted Rani Mukerji to play the role of Avni aka Manjulika in the horror-comedy film. But the Ghulam actress refused to do the film. Vidya Balan was later brought in to do the role.

4. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. – 2003
Another Gracy Singh movie could have been Rani Mukerji’s. She was offered to play Chinky opposite Sanjay Dutt, but she turned down the role after she read the script.
5. Waqt – 2005
Rani Mukerji refused to play the female lead opposite Akshay Kumar in Waqt when she was offered the role. The role later went to Priyanka Chopra.

6. Hey Babyy – 2007
This was one meaty role that was rejected by Rani Mukerji. She was initially roped in to play the female lead in the multi-starrer film. She rejected the role and it went to Vidya Balan.
7. Lagaan – 2001
Lagaan, which is one of the most iconic Bollywood films, was supposed to have Rani Mukerji in the role of Gracy Singh. The actress turned down the film and the rest is history.
8. The Namesake – 2006
It is touted to be one of the best films in Irrfan Khan‘s arsenal. Rani Mukerji was the director’s first choice to play the female lead, which she rejected. The role later went to Tabu.
