Karan Johar has been associated with the Indian film industry for over two decades and has been credited with directing and producing some of the most successful and critically acclaimed films in Bollywood. Some of Karan Johar’s most famous films include “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” and “My Name Is Khan.” He has also produced successful films like “Student of the Year,” “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,” and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.” Though Karan Johar is known for his immense contribution to film industry, he has been involved in several controversies over the years. The most critical being nepotism. Over the years, he has been accused of nepotism and favoritism towards star kids and destroying the career of  talented outsiders in the industry..

Anushka Sharma

Recently, a video of Karan Johar admitting that he wanted to destroy Anushka Sharma’s career has gone viral. In the video, Karan said, “I totally wanted to completely murder Anushka Sharma’s career because when Aditya Chopra showed me her image, I was like, ‘No, no, are you mad or what? Why are you signing her? Are you crazy? There is no need to sign Anushka Sharma.’”

Karan Johar further added, “There was another lead actress at that time whom I wanted Adi to sign, and I was totally behind the scenes sabotaging her completely!” The video has left many netizens angry and disappointed.”

2. Sushant Singh Rajput

After the untimely demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, many people came forward to blame Karan Johar for not giving him enough opportunities and pushing him to the sidelines. Some people also accused him of being one of the main perpetrators of nepotism in the industry. Kangana Ranaut blamed Karan Johar for ruining Sushant’s career.

3. Priyanka Chopra

Most recently, Karan Johar got trolled for allegedly forcing Priyanka Chopra to leave the Indian film industry. While Priyanka didn’t name anyone in her interview, many claimed that it was Karan Johar who tried to sabotage her career.

After Priyanka Chopra in an interview with American actor Dax Randall Shepard, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut defended Priyanka Chopra. Kangana called Karan Johar an obnoxious, envious, cruel, and poisonous person who needs to be held accountable for damaging the film industry’s culture and atmosphere.

Kangana Ranaut

Actress Kangana Ranaut has been a vocal critic of Karan Johar and his brand of nepotism. From time to time she has blamed Movie Mafia for making relentless attempts to sabotage her movies. During a TV show, she called Karan the “snooty flag bearer of nepotism” and hinted that he was running a “movie mafia”.

Kartik Aaryan

There have been reports and rumors in the media that Karan Johar allegedly tried to sabotage actor Kartik Aaryan’s career after a fallout between them. However, neither Karan Johar nor Kartik Aaryan have publicly confirmed or denied these rumors. In March 2021, it was announced that Kartik Aaryan had been dropped from Dharma Productions’ upcoming film “Dostana 2” due to “unprofessional behavior.” This led to speculation that Karan Johar, who is the head of Dharma Productions, was behind Kartik’s ouster. However, both Johar and Aaryan remained tight-lipped about the incident.
