Shaitaan's Box Office Journey: A Hit with a Slight Dip

Ajay Devgn's movie "Shaitaan" has been a huge success at the box office for almost three weeks. However, for the first time since its release, the film's earnings have dropped a bit. On Tuesday, it continued to do well, earning a strong ₹2.25 crore across India in all languages. But Wednesday saw a noticeable decline in collections.

Earnings Take a Small Step Back

Even though "Shaitaan" had been dominating the box office for nearly three weeks, its earnings dipped below ₹2 crore for the first time on Wednesday. Reports say the movie made an estimated ₹1.55 crore nett on that day. This brings the film's total earnings to an estimated ₹132.5 crore nett in India, with a gross collection (including taxes) of around ₹154.9 crore. It's impressive that the movie achieved this with an average theater attendance of only about 10.77%.

Worldwide Success

Directed by Vikas Bahl, "Shaitaan" is a Hindi remake of a well-liked Gujarati movie called "Vash." The story is about a family whose peaceful life gets turned upside down by a visitor who stays too long. This visitor manipulates a young girl, turning her against her own family.

The movie has been praised by critics, especially for the acting. R Madhavan plays the villainous character, while Ajay Devgn and Jyothika play a married couple. It has done well internationally as well, earning an estimated ₹32.1 crore from overseas markets. This brings "Shaitaan's" total worldwide earnings to an estimated ₹187 crore.

Currently a Top Three Contender

Right now, "Shaitaan" is the third highest-grossing movie of 2024. It's behind "Fighter," starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, and "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya," featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.
