Karan Johar believes that the audience only wants to see Shah Rukh Khan in romantic roles. He pointed out that even when Shah Rukh tried different characters in movies like Paheli and Asoka, they didn't do well at the box office, even though they had some romance in them. He explained that Shah Rukh Khan initially didn't want to be a typical Bollywood star, but after the huge success of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, people now expect him to play certain kinds of roles.
Karan Johar also praised Aamir Khan, calling him a "changemaker" in Bollywood. He mentioned movies like Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, and Dil Chahta Hai as examples of how Aamir brought new ideas and styles to Hindi cinema. He even said that Aamir's film Ghajini started the trend of remaking movies in Bollywood.
